Answer the following questions WITHOUT the use of a calculator.

    Determine between which TWO consecutive integers 112 lies.

    102 = 100 and 112 = 121  (2)
    112 lies between them, so 10 < 112 < 11  (1)

    Consider the list: −7  ;  16  ;  5  ;  227  ;  π  ;  0,272727…
    Write down ALL the IRRATIONAL numbers from the list.

    The rest are rational: 16 = 4 and 0,272727… = 311  (1)

    Explain why 227 is RATIONAL even though it is used as an approximation for the irrational number π.
