Danemathics Exams

Tests and exams set by Mr Simons for his own classes, each with its full memorandum. Write the paper under exam conditions first, then mark your own work with the memo.

Grade 11

Grade 11 · 2026

September Examination

Statistics · Analytical Geometry · Trigonometry

100 marks · 2 hours

A full two-hour Term 3 examination in the format of the final NSC Paper 2: three topics, structured questions that build from routine to problem solving, and a marking guideline that shows what every mark is awarded for. About 43% of the marks are for higher-order questions, close to the CAPS target, so it is a fair test of whether you are ready for the November exam. The ogive and box-and-whisker questions are answered on an annexure grid.

  • •Questions 1 and 2: Statistics — five-number summary, box and whisker diagram, ogive (30 marks)
  • •Questions 3 and 4: Analytical Geometry — distance, midpoint, gradient, inclination (33 marks)
  • •Question 5: Trigonometric graphs (17 marks)
  • •Question 6: Trigonometry — problems in two dimensions (20 marks)

Topic Test

Trigonometry: Problems in Two Dimensions

50 marks · 1 hour

A one-hour topic test on solving triangles that are not right-angled: choosing between the sine rule, the cosine rule and the area rule, and applying them to real situations such as a roof truss. The questions are modelled on the two-dimensional problems in recent NSC papers, and the memo shows each substitution and the mark it earns.

  • •Question 1 (13 marks)
  • •Question 2 (14 marks)
  • •Question 3 (12 marks)
  • •Question 4: a roof truss in context (11 marks)

Grade 9

Grade 9 · 2026

Term 3 Test

Geometry of 2D Shapes · Data Handling · Probability

75 marks · 1½ hours

The Term 3 test for Grade 9, in English and Afrikaans with identical questions. It opens with ten multiple-choice questions, then asks you to calculate angles in triangles and quadrilaterals with reasons, read and interpret data, and work out probabilities. The memo shows the working and what each mark is awarded for.

  • •Section A: 10 multiple-choice questions (10 marks)
  • •Question 2: Geometry of 2D shapes (30 marks)
  • •Question 3: Data handling (20 marks)
  • •Question 4: Probability (15 marks)

Also in Afrikaans: Vraestel · Memo

Grade 8

Grade 8 · 2026

Term 3 Test

Data Handling · Geometry of Straight Lines · Geometry of 2D Shapes

50 marks · 1 hour

The Term 3 test for Grade 8, in English and Afrikaans with identical questions. After eight multiple-choice questions it covers organising and reading data, angle relationships on straight and parallel lines, and the properties of triangles and quadrilaterals. A good check at the end of the term: if you can do this paper, you know the Term 3 work.

  • •Section A: 8 multiple-choice questions (8 marks)
  • •Question 2: Data handling (16 marks)
  • •Question 3: Geometry of straight lines (14 marks)
  • •Question 4: Geometry of 2D shapes (12 marks)

Also in Afrikaans: Vraestel · Memo

How to use these papers

  1. Print the question paper, or open it on a second screen, and keep the memo closed.
  2. Set a timer for the time printed on the cover and write the whole paper without notes, as you would in the exam.
  3. Mark your work with the memo. It shows what every mark is awarded for, so you can see exactly where a mark was won or lost.
  4. For every question you lost marks on, go back to the lesson on that topic, then try the question again a few days later.

Stuck on a question? Every topic has a free lesson with worked examples. Looking for other schools’ and provincial papers? See Past Papers.
