  1. 1
    Find the LCD of 3 and 4, which is 12.
    12 is the smallest number both 3 and 4 divide into.
  2. 2
    Rewrite each fraction over 12: ⅔ = 8⁄12 and ¼ = 3⁄12.
    Multiply top and bottom by the same value.
  3. 3
    Add the numerators: 8⁄12 + 3⁄12 = 11⁄12.
    Once denominators match, add the tops only.
